About the Train2Game Game Jam

About Train2Game

Created in 2008, Train2Game (T2G) is the only online blended learning college that offers people the chance to qualify as a Games Designer, Games Developer or Games Artist and Animator with a TIGA Diploma and was created to meet the specific industry skills shortages as recognised by TIGA.

The content for all the courses was co-written and reviewed by two of DR Studios' finest, gaming industry experts: COO Tony Bickley and CEO Clive Robert.

Train2Game is fully supported by TIGA who are the independent awarding and examination body for the blended learning courses.

The T2G Game Jam - The Detail

Below is a full schedule of the weekend event. Attendees are welcome to bring a friend, but please remember that it's an intense 48 hours and not suitable for all.

Friday 25th March

  • 14:00-19:00 - Check in Opens
  • 17:30 - Keynote talk, event opens!
  • 18:30
  • After the keynote, the T2G jam is officially open. At this time attendees will be informed of any practical issues and to make sure you know who everyone is, so you can find us during the jam.
  • 18:30
  • Socialising! During this time the theme for the jam will be revealed and jammers will split into groups to discuss ideas, then pitch those concepts to all of the participants. Each designer specifies what the group needs and participants join up for the concept they like the best. Once the groups are formed, the brainstorming begins.

Saturday 26th March

  • 00:01 - 23:59
  • Saturday is work day all the way through. You can grab some breakfast, lunch and dinner, but apart from that the day is just...work!

Sunday 27th March

  • 15:00
  • The hand-in deadline for the projects. Participants have to get the best version of their game turned in.
  • 15:00 - 17:00
  • Your groups show off your games to each other, and play them while the jury is escorted from game to game.
  • 16:30 - 18:00
  • Presentations of the games in the auditorium/presentation area. Groups will present their games to other participants, describe their ambitions and answer questions. The voting for the participants award will be based on these presentations, and the voting takes place right afterwards.
  • 18:00
  • And the award goes to....
  • The winners of the Jury's Award and the Participant's Award are announced. Particpants may want to wind down at this point. If you made it this far, well done!
